And I sing

And I sing

Orna Porat Theater A musical featuring the songs of Shlomi Shabat Omer loves to sing more than anything. At his family’s falafel stand, “Beni and Sons,” he sings, tosses falafel balls, and warms the hearts of customers, but deep down, he dreams of performing on a truly big stage. When he hears about auditions for the “City Youth” band, he feels this is the opportunity he’s been waiting for and that his dream is closer than ever. But reality is one thing, and dreams are another. The fear of losing this opportunity and his intense desire to succeed lead him to hide a significant detail about his identity, and he spirals into a series of poor decisions that complicate his life and hurt the people he loves most. The play explores the conflict between fulfilling a personal dream and fulfilling family responsibilities, and asks: What is true success? Through music, mistakes, and love, Omer learns that true talent begins with honesty and that together, any obstacle can be overcome. A heartwarming and inspiring musical featuring the beloved songs of ACUM Award-winning singer-songwriter Shlomi Shabat—“Let Me Grow Up in Peace,” “And I Sing,” “Because of the Wind,” “Dad,” “Everyone Has,” and other hits—songs that have been with us for years, moving, comforting, and joyful, transcending ages, sectors, and identities, and uniting us all in a single, stirring Israeli musical experience. Show duration: About an hour and a quarter Playwright: Liat Fishman Lani, Shlomit Arnon Director: Ido Kolton   Cast: Or Moshe, Liz Rabian, Elinor Weil, Elad Shenkar, Ofer Greenberg, Shaked Kanovitz, and Yonata
