If something is happening in Oranit and you'd like other residents to know about it, you can post it as a community event. Posting an event is free for residents.
What counts as a community event
Anything happening in Oranit or nearby that residents might want to attend. A few examples:
- A neighborhood gathering, holiday celebration, or shabbat meal open to neighbors
- A lecture, workshop, or class
- A community concert, performance, or screening
- A volunteer event (a clean-up day, a charity drive)
- A sports game, hike, or outdoor activity organized for residents
Events can be free or ticketed, public or for a specific group. The platform doesn't sell tickets directly. If your event is ticketed, link to wherever residents can register.
To post an event:
- From your dashboard, click Add an Event.
- Fill in the title, short description, date, time, and location.
- Add a photo if you'd like. Events with photos get more attention.
- If the event is recurring, you can set the recurrence pattern.
- Submit. Your event goes to a brief review.
Review and approval
All event posts go through a quick manual review by someone at oranit.community. We aim to approve within a few hours, usually faster. The review is light: we're checking that the event is real, in or near Oranit, and meets our community guidelines. We don't approve commercial promotions disguised as events, content not relevant to Oranit, or posts that violate the guidelines.
If your event isn't approved, we'll write to you and explain why. Most of the time it's something fixable.
What happens after the event date
Events automatically move out of the active feed once the date passes. Past events stay searchable in the archive for a while, then are removed. You don't need to delete an old event manually; the platform takes care of it.
Editing or canceling an event
You can edit your event anytime before it happens, change the time, fix a typo, update the location. If something changes that affects whether residents can attend (a date change, a cancellation), please update or remove the event as soon as you can. Residents rely on the information being accurate.
Recurring events
If you run something weekly or monthly (a regular minyan, a parents' meet-up, a chess club), set it as recurring rather than posting individual events each time. The platform handles the rest.
