The community notices feed is where short, timely messages from across Oranit show up in one place. It's the digital equivalent of the old bulletin board at the center, the WhatsApp groups, and the word-of-mouth network, all in one searchable feed.
What appears in the feed
A mix of content from different sources:
- Announcements from community organizers and the platform team
- Selected items from local WhatsApp groups (forwarded with the original poster's permission, where possible)
- Alerts: power outages, road closures, weather warnings, security incidents
- Community calls: charity drives, blood drives, lost and found
- Brief updates from local institutions: the school, the synagogue, the local council where they share publicly
- Highlighted events, deals, and volunteer calls from elsewhere on the platform
The feed is curated. Not everything that happens in Oranit ends up here, only things that are timely, broadly relevant, and worth a resident's attention.
How to read it
Visit the notices page anytime. Items are sorted with the most urgent and recent at the top. You can filter by category (alerts, events, community, etc.).
If you'd rather get notices delivered to you, sign up for the weekly digest in your account settings. The digest summarizes the most important items from the week so you don't have to check the feed every day.
Can I post a notice myself?
Direct posting to the notices feed is currently limited to the platform team and a small group of community contributors. This is deliberate: the feed needs to stay signal-rich, and the simplest way to keep it that way is to keep the publishing surface small.
If you have something timely that should appear in the notices feed, write to us. If it's a fit, we'll post it. If it's something that lives better elsewhere on the platform (an event, a help request, a deal), we'll suggest the right place.
Things that don't belong in the notices feed
Personal items for sale belong in the second-hand marketplace. Business promotions belong in deals. Events should be posted as events, not as notices. The notices feed is for timely community information, not for everything.
How long notices stay visible
Most notices stay in the feed for about a week, then move to the archive. Time-sensitive notices (like an alert about a power outage) are removed once they're no longer relevant. The archive is searchable; nothing is deleted permanently.
