Your profile is the small set of details that follow you around the platform: when you post an item in the marketplace, ask for help, or leave a review, your profile name and contact details are what neighbors see.
Account name vs. display name
You have two related but distinct names on the platform:
Account name (real name): the legal name on your account, used for invoices, payment confirmations, and any direct correspondence from us. This is private; only the platform team sees it. We need it for accounting and to keep the platform compliant with Israeli regulations.
Display name: what other residents see. This can be your real name, your first name only, or a different name entirely. If you run a business, your display name might be the business name (Cohen Plumbing) rather than your personal name (David Cohen). Most residents set their display name to their first name and last initial, but it's up to you.
You can change your display name anytime. You can change your account name only by writing to us, since it's tied to your payment and invoice records.
Editing your profile
- Click your profile icon (top right) and choose Settings.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Edit any field, save.
What you can change:
- Display name
- Profile photo
- Short bio (optional, shown on your public profile if you have one)
- Phone number (used for SMS sign-in if you've enabled it; not displayed publicly unless you choose to share it on a listing)
- WhatsApp number (separate from your phone if relevant; only shown when you choose to display it on a listing)
- Default contact preferences for new listings
What's public, what's private
By default, almost nothing about you is public. Your profile photo and display name show up next to comments and reviews, but your phone, email, WhatsApp, and address are only visible when you explicitly include them on a listing.
If you want to make your profile more public (e.g., you're a frequent contributor and want neighbors to be able to see what you've posted), you can opt in to a public profile page from the privacy section in settings. Most residents leave this off, which is fine.
Profile photo
A profile photo isn't required, but a small one (a real photo of you, or a recognizable image) builds trust with neighbors who interact with you. Generic avatars are fine; profile pictures of celebrities, brand logos, or anything that hides your identity from neighbors are discouraged for residents.
If you run a business, your business listing has its own logo. Your personal profile photo is separate.
